2 min readUpdated Nov 3, 2026

Pick your settings and copy or download a ready server.properties file for vanilla, Paper, Purpur, Fabric or Forge.

Pick your settings and get a clean server.properties file for a Java Edition server (vanilla, Paper, Purpur, Fabric or Forge). Copy it or download it, then replace the file in your server folder and restart.

Keep on unless you run behind a Velocity/BungeeCord proxy that does it.6–8 is lighter on the CPU.0 turns it off.Set false if players get chat-signing kicks with some clients or proxies. On ESN the panel sets this for you; leave it as the panel shows.

How to use it #

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Open server.properties in the server's main folder (on ESN: panel › Files).
  3. Replace its contents with the generated text, or change only the lines you need.
  4. Start the server again. Most settings only apply after a restart.

Changing level-name, level-seed or level-type only affects a new world. Keep the same level-name to keep your existing world. For a colored MOTD with a preview, use the MOTD generator. Bedrock servers use their own server.properties with different keys.

Need a server to put it on? ESN sets up Paper, Purpur, Fabric, Forge and Bedrock servers for you, online 24/7, with a file manager to edit server.properties in your browser. See plans · Setup guide
